Church Membership

We would love to have you join us as a member of our church!

Membership applications are in the hymnal racks in our auditorium, or you may ask any usher for an application.


Below are excerpts from "Article IV - Membership" of our Bylaws (as of May 2017).  This section describes the membership requirements and the admissions procedure.

Article IV  Membership

Membership in this Church shall consist of those who have been accepted into membership under the Bylaws of this Church; and who have signed the membership roll; and whos membership has not been terminated by resignation or otherwise.

A. To become a member of this Church, an applicant must:

  1. Be a believer in the doctrines of Christian Science, according to the platform and teaching contained in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.  The Bible, together with Science and Health and other works by Mrs. Eddy, shall be his only textbooks for self-instruction in Christian Science, and for teaching and practicing metaphysical healing.

  2. Have been a student of Christian Science for no less than a year, and attending the services of this Church or Sunday School regularly for three months prior to applying for membership.  This requirement may be waived by providing a current acceptable Letter of Withdrawal from a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.

  3. Be free from affiliation with any other church, except The Mother Church.

  4. Be no less than twelve years of age.


B. Admissions Procedure


  1. Members may be admitted at any time of the year.

  2. A person wishing to become a member may obtain an application, a copy of Church Bylaws, and the Standing Rules from the Clerk.  Upon reviewing these documents and completing the application, the applicant shall return them to the Clerk, who will forward the application to the Board.

  3. The Board shall then interview the applicant, and if the applicant meets the requirements contained in the Church Bylaws, the Board shall instruct the Clerk to mail the applicant's name to the Church membership.  This notice shall state that if a member has any objection to admitting this applicant to membership, this objection should be given to the Board in writing within ten days from the date of notice.

  4. If no objections are received, the applicant has been accepted into membership, and will be asked to sign the membership roll, be given a copy of the Bylaws and Standing Rules, and a Sunday shall be designated for the membership to meet the new member.​

  5. Should an objection be received, the Board shall investigate it promptly, and a vote be made to accept or reject the applicant.  A majority vote shall determine the result, and the applicant notified in writing of the result of the Board's decision.


C. Duties of Members


  1. A member is expected to attend Church services regularly as well as corporate business meetings.

  2. A member is expected to become familiar with and confirm to the Church Bylaws and Standing Rules.

  3. A member is expected to accept those appoints to Church duties that he or she believes can best serve the Cause of Christian Science.

  4. A member is expected to support this Church financially.

  5. A member is expected to give active and unselfish serve to the Church and the Cause of Christian Science.

  6. A member shall notify the Clerk in writing of change of name, address, phone number, email address, membership in The Mother Church, and of having received class instruction.​
